Venus & Hermes

In the humanistic astrology approach, Earth represents the Human being. Hence, the transiting cycles of the planets between Earth and the Sun — Venus & Mercury — hold great significance to the unfolding of one's inner life. For they are the only planets that traverse the core center of our system — the space between Earth (our bodies) and the Sun (our solar life-force).

THE CYCLES OF BECOMING is the title of a very interesting book about planetary transits, according to the humanistic astrology interpretation, written by Alexander Ruperti. I found the way he speaks of the electro-magnetic field created by Mercury and Venus fascinating. Ruperti wrote: "Mercury is the first differentiator of the solar life-force, Venus the second. Thus, these two inner planets define the essence of all concrete manifestation — the electro-magnetic field. Mercury provides the electricity and Venus the magnetism."

Mercury is also known as Hermes, after the ancient Greek God who bestowed us the gift of speech, our intellectual expression of ideas, communication, and other tricks. Our wit, if you will. Perhaps that is why new ideas are represented as light bulbs (electricity).

A couple of weeks ago, Venus (our feelings) shared a moment in conjunction with retrograde Mercury (our thoughts) at 3° Virgo — and so, I've been reflecting on the heart/mind bridge since then. Refined mental attitude. Discernment. Magnetism. So much has been said about Mercury's retrograde in our current era of fast-speed communication. This time around, Hermes inspired me to reflect & act during its retrograde period. Not the usual advice, isn't it? But there is so much serenity in following our inner guidance, would you agree? No matter how it might be to you, the inner planets' retrograde periods are a prosperous time to — as the legendary Jung suggests — "make the unconscious conscious."

It can be tricky, as one is the opposite definition of the other. Still, if we are willing to slow down and observe our mental attitude...to suspend our usual thought patterns with an open heart and open mind to welcome a new mental attitude — life will make whatever needs our awareness, clear. Reorientation, if required, is a blessing. So that we know, consciously, we are heading the best way forward.

Some words in Ruperti's book The Cycles of Becoming spoke volumes to me: The quality of one's mental attitude. I love that, for the quality of our mental attitude equals the quality of our life experience. And the quality of our mental attitude is constantly evolving. That is part of being human. So, let us make peace with the fact that we will always evolve as long as we are alive. There is no point in being hard on our past selves. Let us make room for our best selves to exist. Let us bring serenity to our minds and hearts and enjoy the ride of being who we are at our core.

Let the core essence of who you are enlighten your way.

Vivre en amour,

Daniela
